ain't life grand?

Let me begin with a haiku;
A gentle breeze turns
Thunderous, the sky begins
To dance. All's renewed.

Life is grand, grande, vivid. Take hold of the present. Enjoy today. Tomorrow is an unopened gift that will spawn renewed energy and bliss.

Brother of Mine

There once was a boy named Nate,
Being a big, huggable goon was his fate.
What he lacked in grace,
He made up for with his silly face.
Here's to my brother, my pal, my first mate!

Aren't siblings great. No matter how old you get, when you hang out with them you tend to revert back to your ten year old selves. The goofiness, the playfulness, the bickering, the jesting. And honestly, there isn't anything that feels more natural. Suddenly it is okay to be 30 turning cartwheels in the lawn, or making dance videos as dorky as you can. It doesnt matter that tomorrow you will wake up and return to your grown-up self; responsible, hard-working, semi-serious. All that matters in that moment is the happiness you experience from hanging out with those closest to you. It is all very pure and simple and perfect...until your brother decides to pin you down and fart in your face. That is not cool at any age.

In Retrospect

This past weekend I and the entire city of Chicago celebrated St. Patrick's day in a belligerent and obscenely green sort of way. Was a good time had by all? Maybe. Was a good time had by me? Yes. Was a good time had by the people with me? Possibly, but it is questionable, which is exactly why I need to address the things I might do differently if I was given the option of a weekend re-do:

1. I would have gotten up earlier. Life is too short to waste, yet I insitsted on wasting away some of this festively fun Irish holiday because I was lazy. Next year I vow to start as early as the events I am invited to. No 'kegs and eggs' will be too early.

2. I (probably) would not have let a leprechaun get me drunk (but there is a good chance I would let this happen again....too fanciful an event to pass up).

3. I would not have made a scene at the jukebox....I blame my friend whose birthday we were not celebrating. He was one track on hearing Miley Cyrus' butterfly song and being the good friend that I am, I wanted to make sure he heard it as many times as he wanted. Even if this meant being a complete and ridiculous mess and pointless arguments for playing the song with other people's money without their consent.

Full Moons

I like full moons for several reasons but mostly because they remind me of a big, bare ass. Be honest, butts are funny...especially naked asses. Anyway, a second reason I am so fond of full moons is because they make me think of the times I have been eye to crack with them. There was the time my junior high crush mooned me off the back of the school bus ( i was so in love), and the time I saw my friend's ass across the bar (i was so humiliated), oh, and the time I walked in on my pa--- JUST JOKES! That's gross. Seriously, when I feel depressed I just make people pull their pants down. All is good in the neighborhood once they kindly oblige. So I know I seem a bit obsessed with asses, but if you knew me, you would understand (not that that fact alone makes my obsession okay or normal, but play along, for my sake). Butts are my one and only fetish. If loving and appreciating a juicy rump is wrong, I DON'T want to be right. You can quote me on that.

Technology

I love computers. Even more, I love getting to go places where I can learn more about their role in education. Recently I was fortunate enough to go to Copper Mountain, CO for the TIE conference. If you have not ever seen the mountains for real, you must go now. The backdrop of the conference was incredibly breathtaking, but the experience was so much more. Usually I have something smart to say, but not this time. I had the best time of my life.
